Reviews H.R. 2341, the Class Action Fairness Act of 2002, to revise procedures governing class action lawsuits. Describes provisions to establish protections for consumers against abuses in the settlement of class action lawsuits; grant original jurisdiction, under certain conditions, to Federal district courts over interstate class actions in which any member of a proposed class of plaintiffs is a citizen of a State different from any defendant; and revise rules governing the removal of class action lawsuits filed in a State court to a Federal court. Also briefly reviews provisions of similar S. 1712.
