Provides background on food allergies and reviews FDA efforts to provide improved labeling information for food allergy sufferers, including the consideration of voluntary labeling guidelines submitted by the Food Allergy Issues Alliance. Discusses proposed legislation to address the issue, and summarizes the provisions of the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (P.L.108-399).
