- Summarizes legislative proposals in the 109th Congress to strengthen oversight and regulation of Government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs). Reviews provisions of S. 190, the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Act of 2005, and H.R. 1461, the Federal Housing Finance Reform Act of 2005, both to abolish the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight and to establish an independent agency to oversee the housing GSEs and the Federal home loan banks.
