- Summary
- Using mainly footage from his travels on Panay Island, John Torres creates a narrative that is an interweave of Philippine myth, a fictionalized version of Philippine history and the story of Sarah, a debt-collector. Moving through the town of Guimbal, Sarah picks up money, small electronic products and stories from the debtors. However, her own personal search for Emilio, a man from her dreams, proves to be an endless one. Unable to understand Hiligaynon, the native language of Panay Island, the director creates his own version of the various scenes that he captures on tape, by coming up with his own subtitles, instead of translating the original dialogue. Only ten percent of the film contains staged scenes. Awards/Festivals: International Rotterdam Film Festival; Buenos Aires International Festival Of Independent Cinema; Cork Film Festival.
