- Summary
- A search for the β⁺ decay of ⁵⁴Mn has established an upper limit of 4.4 × 10{sup −8} for this branching ratio, and a lower limit of 13.3 for the log ft value for this second forbidden unique transition. Assuming that the β{sup −} decay branch has the same log ft value, then its partial half life must be greater than 4 × 10⁴ years. Experiments to directly measure the β{sup −} decay rate of ⁵⁴Mn are now in progress. 6 refs., 2 figs.
