This collection consists of handwritten letters and typescript transcriptions of same documenting the Civil War experience of Sergeant Albion Dennis Brooks who served in the 8th Regiment, Connecticut Volunteers. Letters to his sister (Emily) and in-laws (Kingman family members) comprise the bulk of the collection. Also included are Brooks' military appointment certificate as First Sergeant and an early (1822) school primer notebook of Samuel Kingman (husband) of Emily.
