Summary
SiC samples with various microstructures were examined by through-transmission acoustic microscopy. The microstructures were ranked with respect to ease of inspection. Some preliminary results were presented on the use of a transducer and acoustic mirror for bore-side ultrasonic inspections of SiC tubing. The technique of photoacoustic microscopy is discussed. A simple test was run to illustrate the principles involved in this technique.
