An energy balance was made to determine the effect of the latent heat of vaporization of fuel and steel on temperature changes of the fuel and steel. Calorimeter runs were made on the reaction of DMSO with acetyl chloride to determine the effects of concentration and injection speed on the power of the reaction. Within a limited range, the power is proportional to both the concentration and injection rate. A plot of void fraction as a function of concentration was made. The concentration at which the reaction suddenly produces a large void fraction is between 3 and 4 molar.
