The authors study the feasibility of using the (K{sup −}, η) reaction as a new tool for producing Λ-hypernuclei. They compare the characteristics of the (K{sup −}, η) reaction with those of the (K{sup −}, π) and π⁺, (K⁺) reactions and calculate the production cross sections for the ¹²C(K{sup −}, η)Λ¹²B reaction. Preliminary results of a test run at BNL to measure the (π{sup −}, η) and the (K{sup −}, η) reactions are presented.
