- Interim isolation is part of an overall plan leading to final disposal of defense wastes at Hanford, and is defined as the placement of at least one physical barrier to the transport of radionuclides between an inactive radiologically contaminated facility and the environment. General and specific criteria for completion of interim isolation are presented. This document is intended to be the technical support WHC-CM-5-7, Section 1.12, Tank Farm Facility Interim Isolation, which defines the process of declaring a tank farm facility ''interim isolated.''
