The archives of the American Missionary Association, on deposit in the Amistad Research Center, contain approximately 350,000 manuscript pieces, most of which were written during the period 1839-1882. Included in the collection are some of the treasury papers, minutes of executive committee meetings, and other items such as sermons, statistical reports, drawings, etc., but the majority of the papers are letters, written primarily by the foreign and home missionaries and teachers, the financial and moral supporters of the AMA and the officers of the Association.
