Summary
The authors present a search for the decays B° → e⁺e⁻, B° → μ⁺μ⁻, and B° → e{sup ±} μ{sup ∓} in data collected at the Υ(4S) with the BaBar detector at the SLAC B Factory. Using a data set of 54.4 fb⁻¹, they find no evidence for a signal and set the following preliminary upper limits at the 90% confidence level: Β(B° → e⁺e⁻) < 3.3 x 10⁻⁷, Β(B° → μ⁺ μ⁻) < 2.0 x 10⁻⁷, and Β(B° → e{sup ±} μ{sup ∓}) < 2.1 x 10⁻⁷.
