- Summary:
- The prospects for solar energy and the growth of the solar industry are discussed. Some misconceptions, capital requirements, energy payback, and growth rate are reviewed. Technologies briefly discussed in the order in which they will likely be commercialized are: conservation, passive solar, biomass, flat plate collectors for water and space heating, wind power, solar ponds, photovoltaics, concentrating collectors for high temperature heat and electricity generation, ocean thermal energy conversion systems, and the solar power satellite.
