Safe practices have been developed by OSHA, the CDC and NIOSH to help prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. It is essential that all healthcare professionals be aware of and abide by these preventive practices. This is the fourth course in the five part series on Infection Control in Healthcare and is designed to introduce and discuss these infection control policies. Objectives: After completing this course, the learner should be able to: Explain the importance of performing proper hand hygiene, Describe and properly perform the different hand hygiene methods, Perform appropriate fingernail care, Describe the appropriate use of personal protective equipment, Demonstrate how to remove personal protective equipment properly, Describe considerations related to infection control safe practices.
