- This video will show parents and professionals how to use a multi-component desensitization package for training children with autism to tolerate a medical examination. The video provides an explanation of each component of the treatment package, as well as real-life examples of how to use desensitization effectively. The video contains actual footage of an unsuccessful pretest medical examination, a clinician implementing treatment, and a post-test that illustrates the child's successful compliance to the examination. After watching this video, viewers should have a greater understanding of how to implement the following techniques to increase compliance to medical examinations for children with autism: desensitization; differential reinforcement of other behavior; escape extinction; video priming.
