Introduces principles and foundations of Federal emergency management in the U.S., and describes activities of FEMA and other Federal agencies that provide assistance. Explains phases of emergency management, process for requesting Federal assistance for major disasters, and types of assistance provided through each type of declaration under the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Stafford Act).
