Provides overview of P.L. 103-322, the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) of 1994, which addresses certain types of violent crime through grant programs to State, tribal, and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and universities that aim to reduce domestic violence and improve response to and recovery from domestic violence incidents. Summarizes two bills introduced in the 113th Congress that would reauthorize appropriations for programs under VAWA. This report is one in a series of updates.
