- Addresses factors underlying cost of currently available carbon dioxide (CO2) capture technologies and advanced capture systems. Provides overview of CO2 capture technologies, describes stages of technology development, reviews status of post- and pre-combustion capture and status of oxy-combustion capture, assesses cost and deployment outlook for advanced capture systems, and discusses lessons from past experience. Examines efforts to commercialize sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide capture technologies to reduce air pollution and gain insight that could be useful for assessing prospects for improved, lower-cost CO2 capture systems.
