- Examines Federal intervention in the marketplace, and considers what, if any, additional action Federal Government should take to enhance small business access to capital. Discusses role of small businesses in job creation and retention, and assesses supply and demand for small business loans, including number and amount of small business loans guaranteed by SBA. Examines selected laws enacted during the 110th-113th Congresses that were designed to enhance small business access to capital by increasing supply of, or demand for, small business loans. Reviews recent actions concerning SBA budget, and provides brief overview of three legislative options available to address small business access to capital issues during the 114th Congress. Includes tables and graphs.
