The first feature-length film produced in Papua New Guinea, this program reveals a country in confusion, where very old cultural customs clash with modern civilization. Papa is one of the chiefs of a tribe in the highlands and belongs to a generation of Papuans who had the first contact with the outside world; he drives a tinpis--the word for a sardine tin but also the popular name for a kind of taxi. Papa becomes the owner of the taxi company but must divide his time between business and the tribal war about to erupt in the highlands, and the battle of old and new also can be seen in Papa's relationship with his assistant Naaki, who embraces the contemporary world in its entirety. That conflict escalates when naaki and Papa's daughter Joanna fall in love and undertake an adventurous journey.
