Summary
Focus on fashion and portraiture photographer, Richard Avedon. Beginning in 1946 when a young Avedon's fresh approach to style startled Postwar Paris and reporting that throughout his career his models never have been seen through his lens as statues but rather alive with movement, vitality and humor -- even when upstaged by elephants. Details how he continued to make fashion history at Vogue and describes his role as the first-ever staff photographer in portraiture at New Yorker magazine. Indicates that Avedon's sometimes caustic, sometimes tender, portraits are his signature. Natassja Kinski wrapped in a snake or an aged Dorothy Parker, her wit long gone.
