- Summary
- Archaeological excavations at Rayy, Iran, uncovered fifteenth century ceramics, coins, building remains, and shards. This collection contains a 16-page carbon typescript report of the 1935 excavation plus thirty-three caption pages for forty photographs, two maps, and one drawing of artifacts, site location, and the excavation site. Also, includes two folios (one with 16 plates of 32 photographs; the duplicate lacks 4 plates) of photographs of artifacts recovered from the 1934 expedition.

- The Rayy excavations were sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Museum and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and with help from the American Institute of Persian Art and Archaeology. The work was carried out from 1934 to 1936 under the directorship of Erich Friedrich Schmidt (1897-1964). When Schmidt left the University of Pennsylvania in the 1930s he brought his original field records from the expedition with him to the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago.
