Acquired 2017. - Biographical or Historical Sketch
- William White Harding was a well known Philadelphia publisher, for many years owner and editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Born in Philadelphia November 1, 1830, Harding trained at Appleton & Company, and took over the Inquirer from his father in 1859; his policies and decisions made it one of the leading newspapers in the country. Harding also published numerous other items, including photograph albums. He passed away from pneumonia May 15, 1889.
