- Summary:
- The (He/sup 3/, alpha ) reaction at about 15 to 25 Mev takes place preferentially through channels requiring large changes in angular momentum (1). The presence of admixtures of high-l particle corfigurations in Mg/sup 26/ is therefore studied by means of the reaction Mg/sup 26/(He/sup 3/, alpha )Mg/sup 25/ at a He/sup 3/ ener gy of 20 Mev. It is found that levels in Mg/sup 25/ requiring changes in 1 of 2 and 4 are excited much more strongly than levels requiring a change in 1 of 0. (T.F.H.)
