Summary
Short documentary film about the new freedoms enjoyed by the Tibetan people under communism and featuring scenes of farm labour, roof-making and dancing. Panning shots of the Lhasa river. The quelling of a Tibetan rebellion has "broken the shackles of slavery". The army speak to a crowd of Tibetans, who cheer and laugh. Scenes of farm labourers. Female weavers work on carpets. Scenes of young girls and women at school. Hospital scenes featuring a new born. Beautiful gardens and a grand house/temple. Temple scenes featuring Buddhist monks, who are now free to enjoy religious freedom. Tibetan roof-making, singing and "dance". Scenes of construction. Smiling women walk around a village and prepare tea. Traditional dancing by the river, and a performance.
