- Description: The diary of Elinor Rendel, which records her life in England and the United States. The beginning of the diary documents here move to American and the experience of travelling across the Atlantic on the boat. Leisurely activities such as camping with a caravan in Scotland is also recorded before her move. Once Rendel reaches the United States, she notes down her disappointment with Harvard University, the disasfitisfcations of the teaching at Bryn Mawr and her work there, her depression, deliberations about going West, various luncheons and dinners with friends, the disparities in attitude towards women in the North and South of the United States and suffragist meetings on Boston and the work of the suffragettes in England. The back of the diary contains s of American euphemisms and sayings.
