- Minimum wage has and always will be something that is controversial within todays society. The effects of changing minimum wage can positively and negatively affect businesses, lives, and the overall economy. Understanding the effects that minimum wage has is significant, especially the effects that it has on the younger generation looking to continue their education. There is little evidence that proves minimum wage has a significant relation to higher education. This paper analyzes historical data of minimum wage from 2005 to 2012 in order to evaluate whether or not minimum wage changes affect higher education. Utilizing quantitative data of both minimum wage and SAT scores, this paper examines the correlation between both variables.
