Description: Letters written by a regular officer in the Grenadier Guards to his wife during his service on the Western Front (August 1914 - January 1919) covering his appointments as 2nd in command of the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards (3rd Guards Brigade, Guards Division) (March - September 1916) and CO of the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards (2nd Guards Brigade, Guards Division) (September 1916 - September 1918). He comments on entertainment for men and officers, his feelings of low morale and depression and the support gained from religious services.
