- Description: Letters written by a regular officer in the Grenadier Guards to his wife during his service on the Western Front (August 1914 - January 1919) covering his appointments as staff captain at 1st Guards Brigade HQ (August 1914 - February 1915), DAA & QMG to the 1st Division (February - August 1915) and DAQMG to the Guards Division (August 1915 - March 1916). He comments on entertainment for men and officers, his feelings of low morale and depression and the support gained from religious services.
