- Description: A simply written diary but with entries for most days of 1916. Starts in training at Sarcee Camp, Canada, describes being waved off at the train station, time spent onboard ship, arriving at camp in England, marching and drills, further training. Last entry is 31 December 1915. Notes in the back say that his family received a letter saying he was leaving England, February 3rd 1916, destination unknown, and that he arrived in France 19th March. The telegram containing the news that he was killed in action arrived 5th December 1916. Includes copies of letters of sympathy written to the family, explaining the circumstance of his death.
