Description: Bunker built by the British in the winter of 1915-1916. It faced the site of the ruins of the old Château which was in German hands at the time. On 6 June 1916 the bunker and surrounding trenches were captured by the Germans who pushed the British troops back to the Menin Road.
The Germans added the 'L' shaped porch to this bunker to help protect against enfilade fire from the British positions. The bunker was recaptured by the British in July 1917. By kind permission of the Hooge Craters Trench Museum at the Hotel Kasteeelhof't Hooghe. AMDigital Reference: HCS_0108. Bunker.
