Biographical or Historical Sketch
Roundell Palmer Selborne was a British statesman and jurist. He entered Parliament in 1847 and held a number of important offices under several Prime Ministers. Politically, he may be characterized as a conservative with certain liberal views. He was also a writer, especially of church history. He was created earl in 1882.
