Summary
The articles in this volume were written to commemorate R. Remmert's 60th birthday in 1990. They are surveys, meant to facilitate access to some of the many aspects of the theory of several complex variables, and demonstrate the interplay between complex analysis and many other branches of mathematics. From the reviews of the first printing of this volume, published as Volume 69 of the Encyclopaedia of Mathematical Sciences: "The articles in this volume ... are survey articles facilitating access to interesting aspects of modern complex analysis. ..." Like the essays in the earlier volumes of the Encyclopaedia also here the essays are addressed to mathematicians who are not specialists in the specific areas covered. ...
