Mrs. Lucas was attending GWU and taking flying lessons on the weekend; she volunteered for the WASPS after completing the basic requirements for flight time; she trained at Avenger Field in Sweetwater, TX; after graduation she was transferred to Morefield Airfield in Mission, TX where she transported planes to various bases and flew as a target tow pilot; she primarily flew AT-6s and AT-17s; she had one incident when she had smoke in the cockpit.
