- This paper describes the need for, application of, and state of the art of rocket engine atomization studies and droplet size measurement techniques that have been applied to liquid rocket engine propellant injectors. In addition, the capabilities of droplet sizing techniques required or desired or both for such atomization studies are discussed. Finally, the results of tests to evaluate droplet sizing interferometry employing the visibility technique and a technique involving both visibility and intensity are discussed.
