- The value of quantitative structure analysis in materials testing and evaluation is briefly reviewed. Some auxiliary devices for point counting (graticule eyepieces and screens as well as stepping microscope stages) are described. Outlined are a modern electronic device which can be attached to a light microscope, a microprobe or a scanning electron microscope, and various television microscopes built in Europe. Some suggestions for the selection of instrumentation for various problems are also offered.
