- A one-dimensional steady-state model and a two-dimensional transient model were used to calculate the annual basement wall heating loads for severe (Minneapolis, Minn.) and moderate (Columbus, Ohio) climates. Interior and exterior basement wall insulation strategies with both full and partial wall coverage were examined. Thermal resistance values ranged from RSI 0 to 3.5 (0 to 20 h¿̐ưft2¿̐ư¿̐ưF/Btu) for the insulation.
