Summary:
Problems with clogging in pressure distribution systems have been reported (Shoemaker et al. 1987, Hoover et al. 1991) and can result in system failure, increased maintenance, and limited use of appurtenances such as timers. Therefore, Maryland sought a pressure distribution network design that would allow operation without clogging and reduce the need for maintenance.
