- The equipment and methods for low cycle fatigue testing used at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Lewis Research Center are presented. These include the design of the specimens, grips, and loading frame, as well as the hydraulic system and console which are capable of operating several testing machines simultaneously. The methods of measuring and controlling load, strain, and temperature are also included. Emphasis is placed on those items or procedures used in our laboratory but not commonly used by others.
