- The process of pultrusion results in a highly anisotropic laminate. When this is twisted, it tends to split along its length. A torsion tester is used in conjunction with a laboratory scale pultruder to demonstrate a novel method of determining the fracture energy in shear. As pultrusions are the only laminates that must use an internal release agent, the effects of this are explored to show the validity of the technique.
