- A reinforced carbon-carbon (RCC) composite in a bidirectional lay-up was loaded in three-point bending experiments at room temperature and 1100¿̐ưC. Failure by delamination was observed up to high span-to-height ratios. Under strict assumptions applicable only to that material, a model is proposed (¿̐ưstack model¿̐ư). The failure mode under the present loading conditions is explained well by the model. To test the validity of the model, additional experiments with a different specimen geometry must be performed.
