- Description: Heavy flak above US Navy vessels at sea in the Pacific, directed toward attacking Japanese aircraft; USS Enterprise in the center left. Caption: 'File no: 1295. For immediate release. Action in the Battle of Santa Cruz, October 26: A Japanese bomb splashes astern of the U.S. carrier as the enemy plane pulls out of its dive directly above the carrier; another enemy plane is pictured (center) after making an unsuccessful dive on the carrier; a flash of the battleship's batteries may be observed. The stormy sky is black-flecked with anti-aircraft bursts; a destroyer can be seen astern of the battleship.
