- Description: View of Hiroshima after the atomic bomb called "Little Boy" was dropped by a U.S. B-29 Superfortress bomber named "Enola Gay" upon the city at 8:15 a.m. on 6 August, 1945. Hiroshima was leveled beyond recognition. The estimate are of total devastation was calculated at around 10Km2. Approximately 70% of the city's buildings were completely destroyed. The population of the city was about 350,000. The explosion killed instantly over 70,000 people, and another 70,000 people suffered fatal injuries from the radiation. This picture was taken two months after the bombing. Hiroshima, Japan.
