- Clinical Epidemiology In Athletic Training Education & Clinical Practice: A Critical Missing Element for Advancement of the Profession provides an overview of clinical epidemiology concepts that should be integrated into the curriculum of an athletic training education program to enhance student understanding of the basis for evidence-based practice and the relative merits of alternative clinical procedures. The DVD features specific examples of the manner in which the concepts can be applied to enhance student learning, as well as the various clinical tests that are commonly used to assess an acute knee injury. A comparison of the tests with regard to a number of factors, including sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, overall accuracy, and odds ratio, and the relevance of the Ottowa Ankle Rule to athletic training practice, is also detailed.
