- Rogers writes to Dear Sam (Samuel Sharpe, London, the Egyptologist), Thursday night (8 Aug. 1822), suggesting a walk on Sunday morning. The letter is written on an integral envelope with postmark dated 9 Aug. 1822. The paper the letter is written on contains the watermark "Budgen & Wilmott, 1809."

- Biographical or Historical Sketch
- Samuel Rogers was born near London to a wealthy family. As an adult he enjoyed writing poetry, publishing several volumes. He entertained the cultured and literary society of London, and his journals, edited and published after his death as Recollections of the table-talk of Samuel Rogers (1856) and Recollections (1859), are valuable sources of information about the period.
