Based on the masthead of the Connecticut courant, Hartford, that town's only printing firm, Watson and Goodwin, was dissolved after the Feb. 23, 1779, issue and the firm of Hudson and Goodwin was established to print the next issue on March 2.
Filled out in ms. to David Taylor, Junr., of Bolton, to the town's assessment of twelve hundred twenty nine pounds eleven shillings and ten pence, and signed in ms. by John Lawrence, treasurer.
Wood engraving at head includes the initials H.D., and possibly is the work of Henry Dawkins. Cf. Bulletin of the Connecticut Historical Society (Oct. 1943) v. 10, no. 1, p. 2.
