Attributed to Benjamin West by Evans and in Bates, A.C. "Check list of Connecticut almanacs, 1709-1850." Proceedings of the American Antiquarian Society, n.s. v. 24 (1914): 102, 129. However, the actual calculator was Nathan Daboll. The calculations in the almanac, excepting those in the tides column, are identical with those in The New England almanack for 1787 (New London), calculated by Daboll under the pseudonym of Edmund Freebetter. The notes on the calendar pages are also duplicated, except that a few are omitted in Bickerstaff.
Two states noted. One has p., as described here. The other has p. only, with a substantially different setting of gathering C and without gathering D.
