Samuel Langhorne Clemens' life was connected with great events. His birth coincided with the arrival of Haley's Comet in 1835 and with the comet's return in 1910, his death coincided just the same. In his 75 years, he took on the pen name Mark Twain and became an American icon. His classic novels Tom Sawyer and The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn have been read by just about everyone in their youth.
