Following record audiences and critical acclaim, director Peter Capaldi's wonderful comedy returns, as Kim, Den and Dr Moore clock in for six more glimpses at the daily grind on a female medical ward in the backwaters of the National Health Service. The legacy of Kim's threatened suspension lingers, new patients bring new problems, Den and Hilary's relationship is no clearer than before and Pippa's career is under the microscope. Elsewhere, a planned new wing is dangled before the staff like a carrot, complete with glossy photos, and Pippa's investigation into stools is a hit - but other than that life continues much as before.
