"In verse, with pictures. Title and imprint statement transcribed from p. [1] of wrapper. Caption title: The story of the three bears. Publisher's advertisement, p. [4] of wrapper, includes Over the hills "with designs by Miss Ida Waugh." Over the hills was copyrighted by McLoughlin Bros. in 1882. Several other works mentioned in advertisement were advertised as "New stock for the seasons of 1882 and 1883" in the McLoughlin Bros. catalogue for that year, including The cruise of the walnut shell, Hans Thumbling, and Afternoon tea. Both the catalogue and the advertisement price these titles at 18 cents each. Cover chromolithographed. Cover design signed, "Bruton del." (i.e., W. Bruton). Plates printed in colored ink by a relief process (zinc etching?)."
